A simple game-jam game, Pod Brnem is a bouncer simulator where you check IDs, make tough decisions, and try to survive the gritty nightlife of Brno. With randomly generated visitors, rising difficulty, and moral dilemmas, each game is a unique challenge. Can you keep the club safe and pay your rent, or will you be out of a job?
Who said being a bouncer is a walk in the park? Not in Brno!
Step into the boots of a bouncer at the legendary underground club Pod Brnem!
Your job? Check IDs, decide fates, and make tough moral choices.
Let in the respectable punk fans, keep out the junkies and shady characters,
and most importantly—make enough money to cover your ever-increasing rent!
Oh, and by the way—every character is randomly generated, so no two nights are ever the same.
Warning: Contains mild vulgarity and people from Prague.
Pod Brnem is a bouncer simulator, inspired by Papers, Please.
You stand at the entrance of an underground club, checking randomly generated visitors trying to get in.
Each night brings new faces—some are honest partygoers, others sketchy troublemakers, and sometimes even fraudsters with fake IDs. Your goal is survival—which means earning enough money to pay rent and keeping the club safe.
But every decision comes with a price. Will you follow the rules, or will you take bribes to make ends meet?
This game was something neither I, nor my team have done before. The randomized nature of the game proved to be the main selling point, and also the biggest challenge. Every document had to be generated according to given rules, which were then validated. Each next level was then built using a set of generation rules.
Pod Brnem has been created during 48-hour long 2024 Brno Game Jam organized by Herní Klastr. The selected topic was Brno underground.
The game was a success and won 2nd place from the committee, and 3rd place by popular vote.
